Ipamorelin is a small lab-made protein piece, made of just five building blocks. Scientists study it in laboratories to learn how the body releases its own growth chemical. It is not a medicine you can buy for people, and it is not approved for treating any sickness. It is sold only to trained researchers for experiments.

In lab tests, Ipamorelin works like a key that fits into a special lock on cells in the pituitary gland, the small gland in the brain that controls growth. When the key fits the lock, the gland lets out natural growth chemical in short bursts. Studies show it is very picky about which lock it fits, so it seems to cause fewer side effects on other body signals like stress hormones or hunger compared with older similar compounds. Scientists are still learning how safe and useful it is.

Most of the research has been done in animals or cells, not in large human studies. It has not been approved by the FDA, and products sold online are meant for research only. People should not take it, because purity, dosing, and long-term effects are not well known.

Mechanism of Action

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide, a third-generation growth hormone releasing peptide (GHRP) and selective agonist of the ghrelin/growth-hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) on pituitary somatotropes. It stimulates pulsatile GH release while having minimal effect on ACTH, cortisol, or prolactin - the first relatively selective GH secretagogue. It is not FDA-approved.
