GHRP-2 is a small chain of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins in the body. It falls into a group of chemicals often called growth hormone secretagogues. This means it tells the body to make more of a specific hormone that helps children grow and affects muscle in adults. Scientists created this peptide in a lab to study how it works. It is mostly used by researchers looking at metabolism and growth, but some people use it to try to build muscle or look younger. The main job of GHRP-2 is to signal a gland in the brain to release growth hormone.

In simple terms, it acts like a key that unlocks a door to let this hormone out. Studies show this can lead to increased hunger and the building of new muscle cells. It also helps the body burn fat for energy. Researchers are interested in it because it might help heal wounds and strengthen bones. It is often used in experiments to see how the body handles extra growth hormone. While it shows promise in the lab, GHRP-2 is not approved for general use by humans.

Most of the proof we have comes from animals or small test tube studies. We do not know if it is safe for people to take it for a long time. It can cause side effects like feeling very hungry or holding onto water. Because it is not regulated, the quality of products bought online can be very risky. Scientists are still trying to understand all the ways it affects the human body.

Mechanism of Action

GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide agonist of the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a) on pituitary somatotropes, stimulating potent endogenous GH release (peak GH 30-100 ng/mL). It also increases appetite, mimicking ghrelin. Used as a diagnostic for GH deficiency; not approved therapeutically in the US.
