BPC-157 is a small chain of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins in the body. It is found naturally in the human stomach, specifically in the juices that help digest food. Because it comes from the body, it is often called a "body protection compound." It is mostly used by people who are interested in healing injuries, recovering from workouts, or fixing problems in their gut. It is not a medicine you can get at a pharmacy, but it is sold as a chemical for research purposes only.This compound is popular because it may help the body fix damaged tissue, like muscles, tendons, and the lining of the stomach.
It works by helping the body form new blood vessels, which brings more blood and healing nutrients to hurt areas. On July 23, 2026, the FDA Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) voted 8–6–1 to recommend adding BPC-157 to the Section 503A Bulks List. The recommendation is advisory only — FDA must still complete formal notice-and-comment rulemaking, typically 12–24 months. BPC-157 is not currently on the 503A Bulks List, remains an unapproved new drug under the FD&C Act, and cannot lawfully be compounded by traditional 503A pharmacies in the interim.
