TB-500 is a man-made copy of a small piece of a natural protein called Thymosin Beta-4. Your body already makes this protein, and it is found in blood cells and almost every cell. In stores, TB-500 is sold as a white powder in small bottles. It is labeled for lab research only, not for people to take. Some people buy it anyway because of stories about faster healing.

In lab tests, TB-500 helps cells move to places that need fixing. It does this by controlling a building-block protein that gives cells their shape and lets them crawl. This may help new blood vessels grow and may help hurt tendons, muscles, and skin mend. Scientists have seen these effects mostly in animals and in dishes of cells, not in large human studies. No one has proven TB-500 is safe or works in people.

It is not approved by the FDA as a medicine. The powder must be mixed with water and kept cold, and it is unclear how clean or strong the products sold online really are. Side effects in humans are unknown. Anyone thinking about using it should know the evidence is early and the risks are not mapped out.

Regulatory status

On July 23, 2026, PCAC voted 8–6–1 to recommend adding TB-500 to the Section 503A Bulks List. The recommendation is non-binding; FDA rulemaking must follow before any change in legal status, typically 12–24 months. TB-500 is not on the 503A Bulks List and remains an unapproved new drug that 503A pharmacies cannot lawfully compound pending final FDA action.

Mechanism of Action

TB-500 is a synthetic version of thymosin beta-4, an endogenous 43-amino-acid peptide that sequesters G-actin to drive cytoskeletal remodeling and directed cell migration. It promotes keratinocyte, fibroblast, and endothelial migration, upregulates VEGF/bFGF to stimulate angiogenesis, and modulates inflammation. Evidence is predominantly preclinical with some early-phase clinical study.
