TB-500

Also called: Thymosin beta-4

By The Health Stacks Research TeamUpdated July 28, 2026

TB-500 is a man-made substance that copies a small part of a natural protein in the body called Thymosin Beta-4. It is mostly used by researchers and people who want to heal faster. It comes as a white powder that is frozen dry to keep it stable.

This product is sold only for lab research and is not meant to be eaten or used as medicine. This substance is famous for helping the body fix injuries. It works by helping cells move to the right spot to repair damage, like cuts or muscle tears. It also helps build new blood vessels, which brings more blood to hurt areas.

This is why many people look at it for healing wounds and recovering from tough workouts. We do not know everything about how this works in humans yet. Most of the proof comes from studies on animals, not people. Because it is not approved for eating, it can be risky to use. You should be very careful and know that it is only for studying in a lab, not for personal use.

Research-stageEarly-stage — studied in cell or animal models, not yet tested in humans. Medium confidence40–59 — backed by moderate-quality sources. Worth a closer look at the individual citations.

Regulatory status

On July 23, 2026, PCAC voted 8–6–1 to recommend adding TB-500 to the Section 503A Bulks List. The recommendation is non-binding; FDA rulemaking must follow before any change in legal status, typically 12–24 months. TB-500 is not on the 503A Bulks List and remains an unapproved new drug that 503A pharmacies cannot lawfully compound pending final FDA action.

Mechanism of Action

TB-500 is a synthetic version of thymosin beta-4, an endogenous 43-amino-acid peptide that sequesters G-actin to drive cytoskeletal remodeling and directed cell migration. It promotes keratinocyte, fibroblast, and endothelial migration, upregulates VEGF/bFGF to stimulate angiogenesis, and modulates inflammation. Evidence is predominantly preclinical with some early-phase clinical study.
