Also called: Insulin Like Growth Factor 1 Protein, IGF-1 LR3 + GHRP, IGF-1 LR3 Peptide Combo

By The Health Stacks Research TeamUpdated September 14, 2026

IGF-1 stands for insulin-like growth factor 1. It is a hormone that your body makes naturally. Your body makes it mostly when growth hormone tells it to. It helps you grow and helps your body heal. Some people, like athletes, are interested in it for muscle and recovery.

IGF-1 helps your muscles grow after exercise. When you lift heavy things, your muscles get tiny tears. IGF-1 tells your muscle cells to build new protein. This makes the muscle fibers thicker and stronger than before. It also helps your body turn the protein you eat into muscle.

Scientists are still learning about IGF-1. Higher IGF-1 in your blood has been linked to some health problems in big studies. It is not an approved medicine for building muscle in healthy people. Using it without a doctor can be risky. Talk to a real doctor before ever thinking about hormone treatments.

ApprovedApproved by a regulator (e.g. FDA) for a specific medical use — the highest research-status tier. Verified confidence80–100 — backed by strong, well-corroborated sources (peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines). Our highest confidence tier.

SubQ

  • 25 μg kg−1 •hr−1 95/100Rated 95/100Source typePeer-reviewed studyIndependent sources1Every claim links to the page it came from, and stronger sources rate higher. Full methodology →↗ source

mg vs mcg: one milligram (mg) equals 1,000 micrograms (mcg) — multiply by 1,000 going from mg to mcg, divide by 1,000 going from mcg to mg. Mixing the two up is a thousand-fold dosing error: 1 mg taken instead of 1 mcg is a 1,000× overdose; 1 mcg instead of 1 mg is a 1,000× underdose. Always double-check the unit label and the decimal place.
