AOD-9604 is a small piece of a protein that scientists make in a lab. It is a copy of a tiny part of a larger hormone that helps children grow. Researchers look at this chemical to see how it acts on fat cells in the body. It is mostly used by scientists in labs, not by regular people for daily health.

The main reason researchers study this chemical is to see if it helps burn body fat. In simple terms, it might tell fat cells to break down their stored fat into energy. It does not seem to make the body grow bigger or build muscle like the full hormone does. Instead, it focuses only on the fat cells to see if they shrink or change how they work.

Mechanism of Action

AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal lipolytic fragment of human growth hormone (aa 177-191). It stimulates lipolysis and inhibits lipogenesis in adipose tissue - promoting fat oxidation and weight loss in animals - without affecting IGF-1 or glucose metabolism. It reached phase-II human trials but was not approved as an anti-obesity drug due to modest efficacy.
