On May 7, 2025, Novo Nordisk lowered its full-year 2025 forecast, trimming sales-growth guidance by roughly 3 percentage points and operating-profit guidance by about 5 percentage points, citing weaker-than-planned U.S. market penetration and continued competition from lower-priced compounded semaglutide copies. CEO Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen said the company was 'actively focused on preventing unlawful and unsafe compounding' even as the cheaper alternatives eroded near-term Wegovy and Ozempic uptake. The guidance cut punctuated a sharp deceleration in GLP-1 growth rates and preceded further price actions later in the year.
