Secretin is a special hormone made in the small intestine. It is known as the first hormone ever found. Doctors use it mostly to check how well the pancreas works. It helps the body make fluids that help digest food. It is also used to help doctors see inside the stomach during a medical test.

When secretin is used, it tells the pancreas to release water and bicarbonate. This fluid helps balance the acid in the stomach. It is used to diagnose problems like tumors or pancreas issues. It works by attaching to specific spots on cells in the gut and pancreas. This hormone is generally safe when used by doctors for testing.

Some people might feel sick to their stomach or get a skin rash. It is not usually used for bodybuilding or fitness. It is a tool for finding sickness in the belly. Scientists are still learning all the ways it helps the body.

mg vs mcg: one milligram (mg) equals 1,000 micrograms (mcg) — multiply by 1,000 going from mg to mcg, divide by 1,000 going from mcg to mg.
