Myostatin is a special protein made by the body. It acts like a brake that stops muscles from growing too big. Scientists found this protein in many animals, including humans. It is part of a family of signals that help control how the body grows and repairs itself. This protein is mostly found in muscles used for movement. It helps the body keep muscle size under control.

Research shows that when myostatin levels are low, muscles can grow much larger and stronger. This happens because the "brake" is removed, so muscle cells can multiply and grow bigger.
