A Nature Communications study shows that medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) expresses CGRP, which shapes an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment by altering dendritic cell development via cAMP/KLF2 pathways and impairing T cell activity. A CGRP receptor antagonist reversed these effects in vitro. The findings propose the CGRP receptor as a potential therapeutic target in MTC.
