China's regulator has cleared mazdutide, the world's first dual glucagon/GLP-1 receptor agonist cleared anywhere for weight loss, for adults with overweight or obesity on top of diet and exercise. In the pivotal GLORY-1 trial the 6 mg dose produced 14.8% mean weight loss at 48 weeks, with half of participants losing at least 15% of body weight and liver fat falling by around 80%. The approval opens a new drug class beyond semaglutide and tirzepatide for the world's largest obesity market.
