Ferring Pharmaceuticals US voluntarily recalled all marketed lots of DDAVP Nasal Spray, Desmopressin Acetate Nasal Spray and STIMATE Nasal Spray nationwide to the consumer level after routine stability testing found the products were superpotent. FDA's notice states the risk of excess desmopressin is abnormally low blood sodium (hyponatremia), which could eventually lead to seizure, coma, and death. One non-fatal adverse event potentially associated with the issue had been reported in the US.
