Research published in Nature Communications indicates that prenatal exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA) is linked to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) symptoms in males through the disruption of brain aromatase. Using a birth cohort and mouse models, scientists found that BPA suppresses aromatase, leading to ASD-like behaviors and brain changes. The study further reports that treatment with 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid (10HDA), an estrogenic fatty acid found in royal jelly, successfully alleviated these neurological and behavioral deficits in mice.
