This review describes nesfatin-1, an 82-amino-acid peptide derived from nucleobindin 2 (NUCB2), as a pleiotropic regulator with well-established anorexigenic (satiety-inducing) effects. It also covers nesfatin-1's roles in slowing gastric emptying, lowering blood glucose, increasing thermogenesis, and influencing mood and cardiovascular function. Notably, the peptide's receptor remains unidentified despite its actions being established, and the stomach is its main peripheral source.
